What’s Holding Me Back? – Acts 8:26-40

Sunday will be a time to reignite our passion for Jesus Christ as we see four followers of Jesus declare their faith in him through baptism in the second service. Our morning will be given over to this important demonstration of God’s grace through Acts 8:26-40 and Romans 6:1-4. If you’re usually at the first service, hang around for the baptisms at the top of the second service and rejoice with those being baptized.

Take some time to read the Acts 8 passage linked above to see how a man with an inviting heart opened the way to God in another one’s life.

Cave Quest – Special thanks!

Thanks to God who worked in lives to bring about such an impactful VBS in the lives of staff and kids.
Thanks to Darcie for set planning, recruitment and organization.
Thanks to more than 70 volunteer staff, who pulled it off.
God used this week in wonderful ways!

Looking ahead: Summer Specials begin July 6

Our first Our Wednesday dinners will carry a patriotic theme in keeping with Independence Day. We’ll have hot dogs & brats for a causal evening and a special patriotic program in the quad outside the Fellowship Hall. Come celebrate Independence Day a little late and thank God for the freedoms he has given us.

Fiesta Sunday & Beach Day – JULY 10

  • First and second services – regular time; Child care provided birth through kindergarten
  • Third service cancelled.

The Beacon ABF has a beach day at Carpenteria Beach and we’re all invited. Here are the details from Amy Spence (text 805-750-1208 for questions).

  • We’re encouraging families to attend first service at 8:15 and then head up to Carpinteria Beach. It can be difficult to sit with younger kids through a service but it is a habit to encourage! I know what you must be thinking, “Packing for the beach AND attend first service, is she crazy?!” Yes it can be done!
  • Pack your car for the beach the night before!
  • Pack your younger kids an activity bag for church!
  • Pack your lunch & drinks for the beach
  • Invite a family or friend to church & the beach
  • Come to church in your modest beach cover up and untidy beach hair!
  • Praise the Lord through worship and be encouraged by the sermon!
  • Drive to the beach, dig those toes in the sand and enjoy God’s creation and the body of Christ He has brought together!

I am praying that each one of us will return to the day of our baptism in great thanksgiving for God’s transforming grace in our lives through Jesus Christ. Make a special effort to be in service on Sunday as we give thanks for new life in Christ.

In Christ,
Jim
