How not to pray – Matthew 6:5-15

Petitions to God can either be self-centered or others-centered. In the second half of the Lord’s Prayer we see that the words “us” and “we” are as important as the word “you” was in the first half. Once we recognize God for who he is, it is entirely appropriate for us to bring our own needs and requests to him in prayer. On Sunday Patrick will explore this idea and provide and opportunity for us to write a prayer of our own, in the way Jesus taught.

It will be a good Sunday of hands-on application as we explore our life of prayer to God. We’ll also rejoice as we hear God worked through our Romania Team and hear of some of the lessons learned on this important mission. Take some time to read through the Lord’s Prayer as we prepare our hearts for worship.

The Big Reveal – July 31, 6-8 PM

This Sunday night we will revealing how God has been working through our task force to reformulate our mission, values, and vision and to describe the difference we are praying that is will make at Chapel City Church.

There will be three parts to the evening.
Part 1. Ken Wenzel, our project leader, will reintroduce the task force and give an overview of the process.
Part 2. Pastor Jim will present the results and the biblical basis for each area that the team developed, and how we expect this will improve our effectiveness for Jesus Christ and his church.
Part 3. John Thomas, one of our elders will detail next steps to implement our mission, vision and values in Chapel City Church.

We would love to see you there!

Summer Specials August 3rd – An Olympic Tribute

Well, it may not be as impressive as the opening ceremony at the Olympics but we’ll have a great time with some special games, competitions, and other surprises as we connect with one another for a great time of fun and fellowship. Another traditional roast beef dinner is planned so don’t miss this great time together.

This is an important Sunday at Chapel City as we learn about meaningful prayer in the morning and as we gather together again in the evening to hear about renewed vision for who we can be as a church. I’m praying that you will make a special effort to be with us both morning an evening.

In Christ,
Jim
