500 years ago this month a German monk agonized over his lack of holiness. Problem was that he was already one of the most devout people of his generation. He just could never do enough. He discovered Paul’s admonition: “the just shall live by faith.” That second sola of the reformation is our final installment of the 500th anniversary of the reformation. Grasping that truth will give you a sense of freedom and vital relationship with God. Be in service as we dive into the scriptures to examine the practical realities of this vital truth.

But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— (Philippians 3:7-9 ESV)
