Welcome to Chapel City Church! What a joy to be guided by the author of Hebrews through the better work of Jesus as the mediator of a better covenant. This week, as we celebrate communion, we are invited once again to consider how precious those New Covenant promises are. The Old Covenant provided a temporary covering for sin, but it always anticipated a sacrifice that would bring real cleansing and final restoration between a holy God and sinful people. But what did it take to secure that redemption? Why is the theme of death and sacrifice so prevalent in the Law? Is the New Covenant built on something completely different, or does it follow the Old Covenant’s trajectory to its final completion? If the anticipation of the Old Covenant was eternal redemption, is there anything left for us to anticipate under the New Covenant? We would love to know specifically how we can be praying for you. If there are questions that we can answer, or ways that we can encourage you in your walk with Christ, please reach out and let us know!
And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. Hebrews 9:27-28
