Welcome to Chapel City Church! This week we will continue working through Hebrews chapter 1. Our author is in the middle of making the case that Jesus Christ is better than any angel. Angels are powerful, but Christ alone is sovereign. Angels are wise, but only God is all-knowing, omniscient. Angels inspire fear and awe, but Jesus Christ is worthy of worship. As he closes the chapter, we are going to see that Jesus Christ rules over creation with the authority of God. He will show us how from the beginning Christ was present as the creator, and that he will be there in the end as creation is undone and remade. Finally, the author will remind us that Jesus Christ has been promised victory over every enemy. And while we wait to celebrate his eternal triumph over sin and death, he sends his angels to minister to those who will inherit this great salvation. Maybe you aren’t struggling with thinking too highly of angels, but perhaps you need to be reminded that Jesus is better. He is worth all of your attention, all of your affection, all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. If there is a way that we can be praying for you, please reach out through our connection cards or by email and let us know!
But of the Son He says,
“Your throne, O God, is forever & ever,
And the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom.” Hebrews 1:8
