Welcome to Chapel City Church! Last week we began to work through the second warning passage of the book. The author loves the people that he writes to, and wants to make sure that they don’t miss out on the precious promises of God. The generation that left slavery in Egypt headed toward a land of promise, but died in the wilderness because of their hardened, unbelieving hearts. That same warning needs to be heard by every generation. This week we will move into chapter 4 where the focus moves to the promised rest that God provides. Knowing God and delighting in Him has always brought the promise of rest. But there is a chance that we miss that rest. The danger is that we know all about God, that we see and experience his goodness, that we look as though we belong to him. But behind the exterior, that same unbelieving heart remains. So, once again, we are called to consider the state of our heart. Because the Lord is a perfect judge, and we aren’t guaranteed another tomorrow to respond to his call. We would love to be able to pray for you specifically.
Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it. Hebrews 4:1
