Thank you for joining us here at Chapel City Church. Whether this is your first time or your church home, we are glad that you are here. If there is a way that we can be praying for you specifically, please use the connection card in your bulletin to pass along those requests. This week we will look at the closing thoughts that Peter has regarding submission. He has reminded his readers that, for the Lord’s sake, they are to submit to every human institution. Our faith and the hope of our eternal inheritance will impact how we respond to the government, to masters, and even in our homes. But all of those responses come out of specific heart motivations. Even in the middle of incredibly difficult circumstances, the Christian is called and equipped to honor God in their responses. And Peter will quote Psalm 34 to remind his audience that there are precious promises that God has always been faithful to keep.
To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit; not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:8-9
