Homecoming

Homecoming

This week we will open 1 Peter chapter 4 and be reminded of what we look forward to. Living as strangers and sojourners in a world that is not our home can seem daunting. When we suffer for living in obedience to Christ, we might be tempted to give up or move toward despair. But Peter reminds his audience of a certain future that lies ahead of them. Sin will not always plague the life of the believer or the world as a whole. There is a time coming when perfect justice is given. There is a time coming when the righteous will enter into their eternal reward, and the wicked will be finally overcome. But how should we live while we wait? How does understanding the imminent return of Jesus prompt us to live wholeheartedly for Him?

The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:1-11
