Hope in Our Great High Priest

Welcome to Chapel City Church! Last week we finished the second major warning passage in the Book of Hebrews. The author reminds us that there was a generation that God led out of Egypt that had every proof of his power and love. And yet, they didn’t really know him at all. We were reminded that the same tendency toward unbelief lies in us, and that we should take care to evaluate our hearts. God has promised rest for his people, and we don’t want to miss out on that rest through a lack of faith. But how do we know that our faith is not in vain? Because of the finished work of Jesus Christ, our great high priest. This week we will finish chapter 4. We will be encouraged to hold fast to our confession, to cling to the truth that promises our salvation. We will also be invited to come into God’s presence with confidence. Our Great High Priest has made a way for us to be reconciled to God through his finished work on the cross. His resurrection guarantees our resurrection. What a reason to be thankful!
