Merry Christmas! It’s our joy to welcome you to Chapel City Church as we celebrate the advent of our savior, Jesus Christ. This season is marked with special celebrations. We have specific events that we attend, people that we gather with, and decorations that we put up. We also have songs that help us think about the significance of what happened so long ago. Every week of advent, we have highlighted the words to a different Christmas carol that focused on one of our themes of hope, peace, joy, and love. This afternoon, we are going to look at one last Christmas carol. This one isn’t really a song (or it wasn’t originally), and it wasn’t written by any of the famous hymn writers or theologians in church history. It was written by Mary, a young girl engaged to be married and thrust into an almost unbelievable circumstance. But Mary DID believe certain things. And what she knew to be true about God led her to write an amazing tribute to his power, his love, and his perfect faithfulness. Today, we get to be reminded of those same things as we celebrate the coming of Christ and the unchanging beauty of who God is.
