Practical Humility

Practical Humility

Welcome to Chapel City Church! Over the past two weeks we have looked at where conflict comes from. Although we would prefer to blame people or circumstances, James makes it clear that conflict is a result of selfish desires that take the place of worship and obedience. And because that’s the case, the solution is a repentant response that draws near to God in worship. But that prideful tendency doesn’t only come out in the way that we interact with other people. What happens when we make plans for our future? Is it something that we want to happen for our own desired results? Do we consider ourselves the masters of our own destiny, able to accomplish our will through careful planning and determination? Or do we recognize the sovereign power of God, even over the events of our lives? “God willing” has become something of a cliche in our minds. But a right understanding of God’s will can help us live contently, even when plans change. If you have questions, or if there is a way that we can be praying specifically for you, please reach out and let us know!

Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.
James 4:14
