Thank you for joining us for our time of worship here at Chapel City Church. Last week we began to look at the Christian’s call in responding to authority. Peter is going to deal with political authority, private authority, authority in the home, and authority in the church over the course of the letter. He works through what submission looks like in those various contexts, grounding that response in a heart attitude of humility. And at the end of chapter 2, Peter gives the ultimate example of humility. In all of human history, no one has suffered as much injustice as Jesus Christ. In his perfection, there was no cause for him to suffer anything. And yet, he willingly went to the cross for the salvation of his people. But what did it look like for Jesus to suffer? What kind of model did he leave for us to follow? What did his suffering actually accomplish in the lives of his people? We would love the opportunity to answer any questions that you might have, or to know how we can be praying for you specifically. Please reach out to the office.
He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls. 1 Peter 2:24-25
