Welcome to Chapel City Church! As we continue to move through the Advent season, we are focusing on the promises that God has made to his people. Last week we looked at the promise of the “head crusher” from Genesis 3, and we saw how God was faithful to fulfill that through the birth of Jesus Christ. We also look forward to his final victory when Satan is defeated once and for all, and creation is renewed and remade without the stain of sin. As we light the candle of peace this week, we are reminded of the promise of God that brings us peace. Our sin separated us from our Creator. We were at war with the one who made us, and we were hopeless to do anything to fix it. But God promised that one day, a substitute would come. This one would take the penalty for our sin. He would bear our shame and our guilt, and by his wounds we would be healed. But how did God prepare his people to recognize that substitute? How can the life and death of a man who lived 2000 years ago possibly bring us peace with God? We would love to answer any questions that you might have, and to know how we can be praying for your specifically. Please reach out to us via phone, email, or a connection card.
But He was pierced through for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,
And by His scourging we are healed.
All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him. Isaiah 53:5-6
