In John 6:63, Jesus proclaims one of the most challenging truths in all of Scripture: “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.” The crowds followed Him because they had eaten the bread that filled their stomachs, but Jesus offered something greater, the true bread from heaven that gives eternal life. In this passage we see the difference between those who seek Him for earthly gain and those who are taught by God, drawn by the Spirit, and truly believe. As we prepare for the Lord’s Supper next week, this text reminds us that only those who feed on Christ by faith have life in Him. Come ready to seek what endures, receive what He freely gives, and respond with devotion to the One who has the words of eternal life. We would love to know how we can be praying specifically for you.
