This is the first week of advent, the time when we prepare our hearts to rejoice in the birth of Jesus Christ. Our lives are pressed and packed. Rest is hard to come by in any season, let alone around the holidays. That’s one reason that these times of worship together are so precious. They are places where we can pause and rejoice in what God has done. Truths that give us eternal life, and transform the way that we live even now. While we will be stepping away from the Book of Hebrews for most of the next few weeks, this week we will actually continue working through the next passage. Our author has introduced Jesus as our Great High Priest, and prepared us to understand all the blessings that this reality brings. But as we open chapter 5, we are struck with the humanity of that High Priest. The Son of God took on flesh and lived among us. Immanuel, God with us. What a way to begin our advent season! We would love to know how we can be praying for you specifically.
“Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation.” Hebrews 5:8-9
