Welcome to Chapel City Church! This week we will finish the first chapter in our study of the Book of James. This last section will set the stage for the rest of what James writes to his scattered readers. The reality of your faith is demonstrated by its impact on your life. There is a faith that is deluded, a religion that is worthless. There is a way to look eternally religious. You can convince yourself that because you have been exposed to certain truths that those truths apply to you. But James lovingly warns his readers that this is a dangerous deception. God calls us not only to hear the word of truth, but to be transformed by it. And the transforming power of the gospel will impact the way that we listen, the way that we speak, and the way that we deal with anger. It will change who we love and what we love. And we need to be ready for sober self-examination to ensure that our faith is more than skin deep. If you have questions, or if there is a way that we can be praying specifically for you, please reach out to us through phone, email, or a connection card in your seat.
This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. James 1:19-21
