Wisdom That Works

Wisdom That Works

This week in our study of Proverbs, we will look at the wisdom of faithful diligence in the work God has called each of us to, and a warning of the perils of laziness. The image of the sluggard’s overgrown field in Proverbs 24 is more than an observation about farming—it is a picture of the spiritual danger of neglect. But the answer is not simply to push ourselves harder. Rather, in Christ, our work flows from resting in his strength and trusting his care. Together we will consider what it means to avoid the wasted field and instead cultivate the Lord’s vineyard, working hard for His glory while resting in His promises. If you have questions that we can answer, or if there are specific ways that we can be praying for you, please reach out and let us know!

A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest,
and poverty will come upon you like a robber,
and want like an armed man.Proverbs 24:33–34
