The Sunday Update | November 13, 2016

Prayer is the right response when we are faced with impossible tasks beyond our capabilities. Daniel 2:1-23 tells of just such a challenge to a group of young men who had pledged themselves to God. They prayed and God answered. But rather than running ahead with the answer they stopped, gave thanks, and recognized God’s gift to them. Daniel’s thanksgiving opens the door to significant thank yous that deepen our gratitude and enrich our lives.

GOD AT WORK

Stepping out on faith in their quest to serve God in Tanzania, God has moved through many people to fully fund the Edwards’ monthly support. They’ll be on their way next week. They’re still lacking in their setup expenses so our help is still needed! Sunday we’ll hear a great God moment of God’s faithfulness in their lives. Then we’ll commission them for this great mission. Don’t miss this chance to say goodbye as they take off for Tanzania next Wednesday.

A HARVEST OF THANKSGIVING

Our ingathering of thanksgiving harvest has already begun as we celebrate God’s faithfulness in our lives on Sunday. Prepare your hearts for a great day on Sunday, November 20th as we set aside normal teaching time and hear your testimonies of thankfulness. Take some time next week to prepare a special word of thanks that you can share. HINT: Don’t leave out your kids. Work with them so they, too, can share and reap the blessing of giving public thanks to God.

In our Harvest of Thanksgiving we’ll recognize our veterans and active service personnel who have given so much to protect our country and preserve our freedom. It’s a good opportunity to invite a vet or a service person to experience this moment of appreciation that far too often goes unexpressed. I’m in prayer that a service full of gratitude to God for his work and his blessing through others will inspire us to a greater heart of appreciation. Hope to see you in service Sunday!

In Christ,
