Thanksgiving is more than a holiday of a point of manners. It is an important part of godliness that not only blesses the recipient of gratefulness, it changes the heart of the one who expresses it. Sunday we look at the fascinating results of transforming thanks in Luke 17:11-17. It can transform your relationship to God and your heart for those around you. Thankfulness is not optional; it is a habit that can change your heart.
KIDS COMMUNION
Sunday we celebrate communion with a kid-friendly explanation of the Lord’s Supper to help your children understand the significance of communion. So you might want to bring them with you into the service. I found a great article from a church who, like us, takes kids’ participation in communion seriously. You might want to check it out here. You’re free to take your kids to their classes after communion or keep them with you for the entire service.
A HARVEST OF THANKSGIVING
This November we’re seeking to develop a heart of thankfulness to God, to our church and to those around us. We’re doing it through sermons, songs, and creative expression to convey grateful hearts that lead to greater love and appreciation. On Sunday, November 20th we’re suspending the normal teaching time and giving it over to testimonies of God’s blessing and grace that you’ve received from his hand through experiences and people around you.
Getting back into life after two great weeks in Costa Rica that Barbara and I spent together is not hard; it is something we’ve been looking forward to. I anticipate an exciting month as we embark on this short series of a Harvest of Thanksgiving. I hope that you will take this journey seriously and let God do a great work in your heart as we learn to recognize and express the appreciation for those blessings that God and others bestow on us. Hope to see you in service on Sunday!
In Christ,
