NO TURNING BACK
Galatians 3:1-14

It’s easy to believe that what bothers God most is a life that is filled with obvious, gross, super-immoral sin. We see those lives, shake our heads and say, “those people really need God!” We seldom have that same response to upstanding role models that are happy with what they have achieved. That’s why we need Galatians. “David Wilkerson said, “At its heart, legalism is a desire to appear holy. It is trying to be justified before men and not God.” Sunday we see how seriously God takes it when we seek to self-justify by self-righteous living.

JOIN US FOR THE ANNUAL MEETING – Sunday 5/21 @ 6:00 pm

Sunday (5/21), we’re meeting together at our Annual Meeting to set a new budget for the coming year and ratify elders. It will be a good opportunity to hear what’s been going on and commit to pray for Chapel City Church over the next year. There will be a nursery provided through preschool and a movie night for older kids. Here are the elders being submitted for ratification:

Scott Foster  Scott and his wife Kristen have been members since 2007. They have two children, Rebekah and Elizabeth. Scott is currently working in the AWANA program and has had a significant impact with Kristen in children’s ministries. He works for Salem Communications.

Steve Hagberg  Steve and Laurie Hagberg have been members since 2005. They have two adult children, Jonathan and Geoffrey. Steve is the primary teacher for the Body Builders ABF and has served faithfully in that position. He is known for his solid teaching and has been a faithful and diligent servant. He works for Oaks Christian School.

Tim Spence  Tim and Amy Spence have been members since 2003. They have four children, Brynn, Danika, Jocelyn, and Olive. Tim is one of the key leaders and teachers of the Beacon ABF where he is known for his teaching and his faithful shepherding. He works for the Oxnard City Fire Department.

Be in prayer that God will use these men as they step into the elder role at Chapel City Church, and that God will use this Annual Meeting for his glory.

Legalism is always someone else’s sin. We never think it of ourselves. Sunday we might be surprised as we learn there’s a little legalism in all of us. I hope you’ll be with us in service as we examine this tendency that, left unchecked, can actually carry us to a different gospel. Make plans to be here!

In Christ,
