ONE FAITH, ONE FAMILY
Studies in Galatians
We’ve all been there before – in an uncomfortable situation or conversation where silence or outright compromise of our faith or principles stares us down. There’s an opportunity to do right and we blow it. Why do we do it? Sunday in Galatians 2:11-21 we’ll look at the anatomy of compromise and answer that question. But the “why” isn’t enough. We have to figure out how to elevate the importance of the gospel and to avoid the devastating consequences of failure. There’s a bonus this week as we look at some famous verses (2:19-21) and see how they fit into courageous living.
COME CELEBRATE MOTHER’S DAY
Some of our men are honoring the women of Chapel City with a special reception during the fellowship time and we’ll see some of our kids’ thoughts about Mom during the service. Come celebrate with us as we honor those special people in our lives!
JOIN US FOR THE ANNUAL MEETING – Sunday 5/21 @ 6:00 pm
We’re looking forward to a good meeting next Sunday (5/21) where we’ll set a new budget for the coming year and ratify elders. It will be a good opportunity to hear what’s been going on and commit to pray for Chapel City Church over the next year. There will be a nursery provided. Here are the elders being submitted for ratification.
Scott Foster Scott and his wife Kristen have been members since 2007. They have two children, Rebekah and Elizabeth. Scott is currently working in the AWANA program and has had a significant impact with Kristen in children’s ministries. He works for Salem Communications.
Steve Hagberg Steve and Laurie Hagberg have been members since 2005. They have two adult children, Jonathan and Geoffrey. Steve is the primary teacher for the Body Builders ABF and has served faithfully in that position. He is known for his solid teaching and has been a faithful and diligent servant. He works for Oaks Christian School.
Tim Spence Tim and Amy Spence have been members since 2003. They have four children, Brynn, Danika, Jocelyn, and Olive. Tim is one of the key leaders and teachers of the Beacon ABF where he is known for his teaching and his faithful shepherding. He works for the Oxnard City Fire Department.
Be in prayer that God will use these men as they step into the elder role at Chapel City Church, and that God will use this Annual Meeting for his glory.
We deal with such important themes on Sunday. I hope you will make a special effort to be in service. We have no idea the damage we do to our family, our friends, and our co-workers by the compromises we make. The gospel is at stake! It will also be that great opportunity to say thank you to moms who have had such an impact on our lives. See you Sunday!
In Christ,
