March 20th – The Triumphal Entry – More than a Parade

The Triumphal Entry: it was a prelude to greatness. The celebration that went on that day must have stirred the senses of the crowds and filled the hearts of the disciples with hopeful anticipation of the coming king. Finally Jesus was getting the honor he deserved! Surely this would lead to a striking new order- the king had come!

Little did they know that the greatness would come but not how they expected. That great day of celebration, inauguration, and coronation was not the culmination of the journey; it pointed to a better day that would change you and me forever. Read Matthew 21:1-11 to prepare for tomorrow.

Camarillo Evangelical Free Becomes Chapel City Church!

It has been a long time coming. It’s with a thankful heart for God’s leading and the hard work of so many people that we’re finally here. Don’t miss this great day.

  • Our special day will feature a special schedule:
  • First and Second service at normal times.
  • We anticipate a very full second service so if you can make it to the first service, you’ll find more comfortable seating. Be sure you’re back for our “California Banquet” (In-N-Out) at 11.
  • Kids above kindergarten will be in the 9:30 service for the first part of the service then released for their own lesson time.
  • Darcie and I will have a special charge for our youngest followers so be sure that your little ones are there.
  • No separate student services. Youth will be meeting with adults for the entire service.
  • No third service as the In-N-Out truck arrives for a “California Family Feast, so regular third service people come on out to one of the earlier services to celebrate.
  • No ABFs tomorrow (the 20th) so we can celebrate together. It’s a good chance to invite a friend to this special day and ask them to join with us for lunch.

Join us for this Palm Sunday/Renaming Celebration and invite a friend as we look forward to Easter.

Handicap Parking

Parking in front of the church will be blocked for the In-N-Out truck so those spots out front will be shifted in the back lot. Signs will be posted for your convenience.

As we celebrate tomorrow I am so thankful for the journey that we have traveled and the doors that have already been opened. A number of people have related the conversations they have already had in relation to our name. At the same time I look forward to the road that stretches out in front of us as we seek to fulfill the roll God has for us in Camarillo and beyond. Be in prayer for a great and meaningful day on Sunday.

In Christ,
Jim
