The Easter Update | March 25-27, 2016

March 25th – Good Friday – 7:00 PM

We’re looking forward to Friday as we gather to remember the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The death and resurrection of Jesus is the pivotal moment in our faith that changes everything. All ages over kindergarten will worship together as we reflect on how the crucifixion changed two disciples: Peter and John. It prepared them for the full realization of Easter Sunday. It’s a service when people come early and linger afterward. Bring a friend and don’t miss this meaningful gathering.

March 27th – Easter Sunday

We’ll proclaim “He is risen!” on Sunday morning as we worship on this high point of the year. We would be lost without the resurrection. On Friday we talk about how the crucifixion changed the disciples. On Sunday we’ll talk about how the resurrection changes us!

Children over kindergarten will be in the service with their parents with special activity packs. ABFs won’t meet due to the number of special guests and the special activities that people have planned so it’s an especially good time to invite someone to come along with you.

Easter Reception

Ladies on our hospitality committee are putting together a great reception in the Fellowship Hall between services so be sure you take some time for some good eats and conversation. It’s a highlight you won’t want to miss.

Memorial Service Announcement

The memorial service for Lynn Eaton, mother of Tami Rutledge and Leah Humphreys (a Chapel City Church missionary) and grandmother of Debra Copeland and Shaun Humphreys (both Chapel City Church missionaries) will be Saturday, March 26th at the Life Way Baptist Church, 673 W Santa Paula Street in Santa Paula 2 pm. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting assistance for travel expenses for their missionary families. Checks can be made out directly to Charlie Rutledge and mailed to him or dropped off at the church.

As we look forward to a weekend full of worship, I am praying that God will move us to reach in as we praise God from the bottom of our hearts for the gift of his Son, and to reach out as we invite a special friend or neighbor who otherwise might just stay home.

In Christ,
Jim
