August 16th – When Disaster Strikes

In a smaller world we were somewhat shielded from some of the catastrophes that strike; they seemed so far away if we even knew about them. Now we are more aware that disasters happen and we are more struck with their severity because we actually see them played out before our eyes. It’s even worse when we find ourselves at the center of ruin, caught up in the pain. How do we deal with our faith in God in such painful moments? The prophet Joel springs to life in the middle of disaster and has answers. His answers resonate not only with his people, but they give us a pathway of faith and renewed hope in God. Reading through three chapters in Joel may be a bit challenging but it will also be rewarding as we get ready for an encounter with God on Sunday.

Announcements & Updates

Just a reminder – We’ve said good-bye to Specials

Thanks to Barbara Larson and her crew and to Matt Grindstaff for our great summer dinners. Thanks also to Darcie for a fun summer for our kids. Don’t show up next Wednesday – they’re done!

I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. As we open God’s word, I believe it will be a message of great encouragement and faith that springs from unlikely places. Plan to be with us!

In Christ,
Jim
