February 14th – Growing Up

Some people start well in their faith; they’re excited, growing, learning and sharing. Their lives are visibly different. Yet somewhere along the way they come to the conclusion that growing up in one’s faith is optional and maturity is an elective.

Sunday we see that growing up in Christ is not discretionary; it is expected. There are great benefits to maturity and serious consequences to a failure to thrive. A quick read of Hebrews 5:11 – 6:12 will alert you that this is a must-hear study! Come prepared to learn, to grow, to be challenged, and to be encouraged in this often misunderstood passage.

Second Service Children Dedication

It’s a great encouragement to parents and children to witness and participate in the dedication of children to the Lord. Tomorrow we will celebrate this important step with Steven and Amy Kelly with their children Emily and Chloe. It’s a reminder of our responsibilities as parents, grandparents, family and friends in raising up children for God.

Pray for our students and staff

We have about 17 junior high students and leaders at Camp Pondo and 23 HS campers and staff at Hume Lake this weekend. Pray that God will use this weekend for his glory and as an instrument in changing lives!

In Hebrews, we’ve talked a lot about how incredibly superior Jesus Christ is. Sunday we talk about our response, and our responsibility. It’s my prayer that God will use this study to deepen our faith and to strengthen our resolve to grow up in Christ.

In Christ,
Jim
