Christianity 101 – that’s our series in James’s letter. Last week we talked about some very basic points; accepting the word that God has given us instead of embracing pride and anger in our talk. This week we turn to the second of three emphases as we not only are challenged to accept the word, but also to do the word! This challenging topic touches each one of us as we move beyond listening to actually doing. Pray that God will challenge us all with new and receptive hearts.
You may notice a change tomorrow as our high school and junior high students will invade the first service prior to leaving for Magic Mountain. It will be a fun time for them and a treat for our first service!
Announcements & Updates
BAPTISMS! – Sunday February 22nd
We already have people scheduled to be baptized. If you have never been baptized as a believer I encourage you to mark your ministry slip on Sunday. Email me at jim@evfreecam.org, or speak to me at church so we can make preparations for an exciting day of testimony and commitment!
Financial Update
FYI, while December was a relatively positive month and February appears to be on track, January was a difficult month for us in terms of giving. As a result our expenses outpaced our giving by almost $9,500 for the month. Our fiscal year ends on April 30th and the last part of our accounting year is normally a period of increased expenses. We appreciate your generosity to the ongoing ministry of CEFC and encourage you to consider an extra push to help us end strong! It helps us expand our influence for Jesus Christ both here and around the world.
Save the Date Men’s Spring Retreat – April 17-19, 2015
Cost is $195 for a weekend that will give you opportunities to know the men around you, get some new perspective on the battles we’re facing, and to understand what it really means to connect to Jesus Christ. Signups start soon!
Save the Date Women’s Conference – “What Are You Thinking?”
March 28 – 9 am – 3 pm. Registration opens 2/22/15
This one-day event will give you the five steps to transform destructive ways of thinking into godly thought patterns that honor God, build strong personal traits, and enhance our relationships to family and friends.
Embrace the word; Do the word;; Be the word! That’s where we are headed. Be in prayer that our gaze into God’s word will be to do; not just to hear.
In Christ,
Jim
