September 6th – Communion Sunday

C.S. Lewis said, “According to Christian teachers, the essential vice, the utmost evil is Pride. Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness and all that, are mere flea bites in comparison: it was through Pride that the devil became the devil: Pride leads to every other vice: it is the complete anti-God state of mind … it is Pride which has been the chief cause of misery in every nation and every family since the world began.” As we open Obadiah tomorrow, we will see how Lewis’s statement echos God’s own heart. I am praying that God will open our eyes as to how deceptive and dangerous this vice can be!

What a great segue into remembering in humility the sacrifice that Jesus made for us and that Jesus paid it all!

The more I move through the Minor Prophets, the more I see the relevance of these anonymous spokesmen for our day. I am praying that these unfamiliar voices will become a shining light for us and our times! Be in prayer that God will give us his heart in perilous times!

In Christ,
Jim
