The Sunday Update | December 6, 2015

Sunday will be an unusual day with two different services.

First service. Have you ever felt like an outsider, like you don’t quite measure up? Rahab of Jericho would definitely feel that way both because of her race, and because of her profession. Yet as she dares to believe, her life is incredibly changed. In this unusual look at Christmas, we’ll take a fresh look to see how God’s provision through Christ takes us from our own shortcomings to a position of honor in his plan. Read through Joshua 2 for some incredible background. NOTE: Since this message will only be in the first service, this is a good time to introduce yourself to our media center on evfreecam.org to listen and stay up to date with our series.

Second and third service. It’s going to be a great celebration as we hear our kids perform The Heavenly Surprise, a Christmas musical that they previewed last Friday at the Camarillo Old Town Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. We’ll have the bulk of our service dedicated to worship through our children and a short devotional to follow. Join us for a spectacular time.

P.S. If you want the blessing of both services you can always attend both venues.

Children’s Christmas Concert Sunday morning and evening! (12/6)

Second and third services will feature our kids in a great Christmas concert. First service will have a full message with a brief meditation at our second and third services. There will be a reprise of our concert on Sunday evening at 5:00 so it’s a great opportunity to invite family and friends.

Youth Christmas Banquet Tickets on Sale! (12/11-12/2015)

Tuesday is the deadline for ticket sales for our Christmas Banquet next Friday and Saturday sponsored by our students. $20 per person gives you a great evening and helps our student ministries.

Spring Youth Missions Trip Information Meeting 12/15 7-8 p.m.

There’s an informational meeting for our spring missions trip to Sells, AZ partnering with the First Papago Baptist Church during Spring Break. We’re encouraging all parents and students (middle and high school students) to attend to get a first look at this meaningful outreach to the Tohono O;’Odham Nation.

Norm and Debra Copeland

Next Sunday (12/13) we will combine our ABFs both second and third services to host Norm and Debra Copeland, missionaries with New Tribes Missions. It will be a great time to hear what God is doing through this great couple.

Hickory House Gift Project

A $20 donation will help supply gifts for our friends and staff at Hickory House assisted living center just down the street. AWANA TNT group will be caroling and distributing the gifts this Wednesday 12/9, so your $20 gift must be turned in tomorrow in the Fellowship Hall. See Donna Katzen for details.

Be in prayer for a great Sunday. During the second and third services we will have lots of guests so be alert to give a warm welcome to those around you. Pray that God will use the children and the message to make a strong impact in the life of each one of us and especially in the hearts of our guests.

In Christ,
Jim
