This week we will be taking a break from Matthew and instead shifting our focus to Romans 8:14-18. In these passages, we will have a chance to take a look at what our new identity looks like in Christ Jesus, specifically, how the Spirit leads and now gives us a new identity in God.
In these trying times, it can be easy to forget who we are as we can easily be frustrated with the loss of things we are so used to. It is important, more than ever, to remember our true citizenship and identity in Christ. We must be vigilant to remember these things or we will be distracted and led off the path and robbed of our hope, joy, and satisfaction in Jesus Christ. We will answer questions such as, “How is one made a son of God?”, “How do we identify if one is a son of God?”, and “Why is it important that I see myself as a son of God?”
We look forward to opening the word of God with you this week! We can’t wait to see you in person. But until then, please let us know if there are questions that we can answer or ways that we can be praying for you!
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:14-18
