God of the Nations

God of the Nations

Welcome to our time of worship together here at Chapel City Church. We are so glad that you are here, and we would love the opportunity to answer any questions that you might have, and to know how we can be praying for you! This morning we will open the book of Obadiah together. Although it’s the shortest book in the minor prophets (and the whole Old Testament), it has an important message for us. Through his prophet, God is going to send a warning and a promise. But this time, the warning isn’t for his people, Israel. So why is a warning to Edom relevant to us today? How can we take comfort in promises made to Israel nearly three thousand years ago?

For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations.
As you have done, it shall be done to you;
    your deeds shall return on your own head.
For as you have drunk on my holy mountain,
    so all the nations shall drink continually;
they shall drink and swallow,
    and shall be as though they had never been.

Obadiah 15-16
