Responding to the King: Worship & Wrath, Part 1

Responding to the King: Worship & Wrath, Part 1

Welcome to Chapel City Church, we are glad to have you with us today! As we move into the second chapter of Matthew, we are still in familiar territory. This week we are introduced to several new and important characters in Matthew’s narrative. The King of the Jews has been born, but king Herod rules over Judea. What happens when an earthly king hears of the birth of the king of kings? Who were the magi and why are they an important part of the story? Over the next two weeks we will look at two responses to the king: worship and wrath. How will you respond to the claims of Jesus Christ? Will you worship Him, recognizing who He is and what He has done? Or will you, like Herod, reject the King in favor of your own way, will, and desires? It’s a question with eternal implications. We would love to help you understand what it means to follow Christ, or answer and questions that you might have. Please reach out and let us know how we can minister to you!

When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshipped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:10-11
