Destroying the Darkness

Destroying the Darkness

We pray that God is growing and refining you during this time of transition and uncertainty in our nation and the world at large. One of the great encouragements for God’s people is to understand who it is that we worship. We serve a God who is just and merciful, who is holy and perfectly faithful. We understand that God’s authority extends to every aspect of His creation. As we have moved through the 8th chapter of Matthew, authority has been the consistent theme. We have seen the authority of Jesus Christ in His teaching, over disease, and over the physical elements of creation itself. As we finish Matthew 8 this week, we will be reminded that the authority of Jesus extends over the spiritual realm as well. When Jesus casts out demons, what does it demonstrate with regard to that authority and why is it so important to the gospel writers that we understand that? What is it that even the demons know that the disciples have not yet come to understand?
If there are questions that you have, or if there are ways that we can be praying for you, please reach out and let us know!

The herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, especially what had happened to the demon-possessed men. And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.

Matthew 8:33-34
