Following, Fear, and Faith

Following, Fear, and Faith

We are glad that you have joined us for worship this week. As we continue to work through Matthew 8 and 9, we remain focused on the idea of Christ’s authority. He has shown his authority over disease as he heals a leper, a centurion’s servant, and Peter’s mother in law. He has demonstrated that discipleship is a costly thing, and that those who follow him must be willing to leave all else for the sake of the kingdom. This week, we come to one of the most well-known stories in the life of Christ; Jesus calming the storm. But what does this have to do with the authority of Christ? What do these verses reveal about Jesus and about those who are following Him? We know that in this time of turmoil that many of you are struggling with needs of all shapes, sizes, and types. We want to come alongside you as a church body. If there is a way that we can be praying for you, please let us know. If there is a physical need that has to be met, we want to be aware of it. If you simply need someone to remind you of the timeless truths of God’s sovereign care for His people, we would love to bring those things back to your mind. We love you and we are praying for you.

And they went and woke him, saying,  “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to hem, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

Matthew 8:25-26
