Merry Christmas, and welcome to Chapel City Church! We are so glad that you have come to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with us. Perhaps this is your first time in church, or your first time in a long time. Know that we are thankful that you are here, and that we would love the opportunity to answer any questions that you might have.
We believe that Christmas is more than a time of family gatherings and goodwill. This is the time of year when we celebrate the fact that God made a way for us to be reconciled and restored to him. Jesus Christ, God very God, took on flesh and became like us. The one who formed and filled the earth was born in humility and obscurity. Christmas is the yearly reminder that the greatest became the least for the sake of his people. And that baby would one day give up his life, bearing the weight of our guilt on the cross, so that we might know the hope of spending eternity with him.
For many of us, the songs and stories of the season are wonderfully familiar. Our prayer is that the familiar would never become ordinary. For those of us who know Jesus Christ, Christmas is a beautiful reminder of the faithfulness of God. In Jesus Christ, we see the fulfillment of what the prophets spoke of. We see the majesty of God displayed in humility. We see the justice and mercy of God as ruined sinners and restored to fellowship with him. Let this service and the season draw our hearts to worship as we consider the glory of Immanuel, God with us!
