Praying for God’s People

Praying for God’s People

As we move into the book of Colossians, we are going to be brought face to face with the glory of Jesus Christ. Paul writes to a church that was being bombarded by worldly philosophy and man-made religion. And into the spiritual confusion he shines a brilliant light on the person and work of Jesus Christ and the nature of the gospel. It would have been a comforting and clarifying thing for those initial readers to think through, and it ought to be the same for us. This week, we will be working through what it looks like to pray for God’s people. We know that we should pray, and that we should probably pray more than we do. We also know that part of our prayer should be offered on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Christ. But what do we pray for in the lives of other believers and why does it matter? We hope that God’s word challenges, convicts, and encourages you this morning. If you have any questions that we can answer, we would love to talk with you!

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,  so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.  Colossians 1:9-10
