The Birth of the King

The Birth of the King

As we move through Matthew’s gospel, we have come to the birth of Jesus. We might be a little late, but we get to celebrate Christmas in January! But what is it that makes this birth so different, so special? Why did Jesus have to come the way that He did, and how does it help us understand who He is? This week we will understand why all of those names at the beginning of chapter 1 ultimately led to this one name. We will see that Jesus Christ is not only the son of David, but that He is the Son of God!

Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:20b-21
