The Exchange

Welcome to our time of corporate worship here at Chapel City Church. We are so glad that you have joined us, and would love the opportunity to answer any questions that you might have. We would also like to know how we can be praying specifically for you, so please reach out through the comment cards, an email, or a phone call and let us know! As we move closer to the cross in Matthew 27, the trial of Jesus begins a new phase. The Jewish religious leaders hate Jesus, and have condemned him on the charge of blasphemy. However, they don’t have the authority to kill Jesus. They approach the governor, a man named Pilate, and ask that he deal with Jesus on their behalf. But what are they willing to trade for the life of Christ? Is it worth freeing a known criminal? Or, more to the point, how do you evaluate this Jesus of Nazareth? What is it worth to recognize him as Christ, the King?

The governor again said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.” Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said, “Let him be crucified!”

Matthew 27:21-22
