We know that forgiveness is important in the life of the church. In fact, the church would not exist if God had not forgiven us through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. This week we are looking at a parable of Jesus in Matthew 18 that deals with forgiveness. Through this brief story, Jesus helps His people understand not only the unimaginable forgiveness that God offers sinners, but also the necessity for us to forgive others. When we understand the greatness of God, we can begin to understand how serious sin is. When we understand sin, we begin to marvel at our forgiveness. And when we marvel at our forgiveness, we will be more eager to extend that same forgiveness to those who sin against us.
