There are times when even the strongest of us become fearful. The fear might come because of outside circumstances; uncertainty at work, political unrest, or upheaval in our relationships. But fear might come in silently and internally as well; the fear of the unknown, the nagging of insecurity, or the bitter understanding that I am simply not “enough.” And the reality is that God does not promise His people a life free from frightening circumstances. The precious truth is that through faith in Jesus Christ, we can be transformed from fearful to faithful. We can be a people who, in spite of difficult circumstances, remain secure in our understanding of who He is and who we are in Him. Today we will look at the miracle of Jesus walking on the water, and will be challenged to examine how our faith impacts us when life gets stormy.

But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” Matthew 14:30-33
