A Picture of Faithful Ministry

A Picture of Faithful Ministry

As we come to the conclusion of the first chapter of Colossians, we are going to see a broad overview of what gospel ministry looks like. Now, our conclusion might be that Paul was called to ministry, but there isn’t much in the way of personal application from a passage like this. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Paul expects and anticipates that all genuine believers will share in the work of ministry. We are entrusted with gifts given by the Spirit designed to be used for the benefit of the body. But what does ministry look like? What’s the focal point, and what are some of the practical things that characterize biblical ministry? We hope that this wonderful portion of scripture begins to form our understanding and challenge us to walk in obedience as we all minister alongside one another.

Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.  Colossians 1:28-29
