A Repetition of Rejoicing

A Repetition of Rejoicing

We are glad that you have come to worship with us today. We use that word, worship, a lot. It means to assign value to something, to treat it as worthy of honor and praise. And that’s so appropriate as we consider who God is and what He has done. But if we are honest, there are times when thanksgiving is hard to come by. This week we will work through Psalm 136. It’s a song of thanksgiving that provides a model of praise for any circumstance. The steadfast love of God is everlasting. A theme repeated 26 times in 26 verses. And each repetition is introduced by another proof of the eternal loving kindness of God. Our great hope is that we leave our time of worship this week more thankful than when we came in, and that God will remind our often stubborn hearts that He is good, and that He is always deserving of our worship. If there is a way that we can be praying for you, or if you have questions that we can answer, please reach out and let us know.

It is he who remembered us in our low estate,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
and rescued us from our foes,
for his steadfast love endures forever;
he who gives food to all flesh,
for his steadfast love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of heaven,
for his steadfast love endures forever.  Psalm 136:23-26
