It’s a wonderful thing to gather with God’s people to worship together through singing, study, and ministering to one another. There is something wonderful and familiar in coming together regularly in corporate worship. In fact, familiar things are often what bring us comfort, and the same can be said for biblical passages as well. One of the most familiar is Psalm 23, the Psalm that we will look at this weekend. “The Lord is my shepherd” is one of the most well- known chapter openings in all of Scripture. It has been used to comfort the sick, encourage the faint, and restore those who are mourning; and for good reason. This week we will be reminded of what it means to call God our shepherd. What does it mean to say that we are sheep? What does it look like to live a life in the sheepfold of the Lord? We hope that you will be encouraged in your walk today. We also hope that you will let us know how we can be praying for you, or how we can come alongside you.
I am so grateful He follows me in goodness and mercy. The only possible motivation is His own love, His care and concern for me as one of His sheep. Despite my doubts, despite my misgivings about His management of my affairs, He has picked me up and borne me back again in great tenderness.
