Anticipating the Advent: Peace

Anticipating the Advent: Peace

Good morning, and welcome to our time of worship together here at Chapel City Church. As we light the second advent candle, we are reminded of the theme of peace. We live in a world of conflict. We see it between nations, we see it in the workplace, we see it in our homes, and we find it in our own hearts. The reality is that sin breaks peace. But the strife between people is only a reflection of a more significant war. Sin has set mankind against our creator. So how can we sing and preach about peace? The answer is the person and work of Jesus Christ. His death paid the wages of sin for all who would come to him in faith. His righteousness placed on his people ensures our peace with God. But do we understand our need for peace? Does peace with God matter in the way that we live with other fallen people? We would love to know how we can be praying for you, or how we can come alongside you in ministry.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace
among those with whom he is pleased!”

Luke 2:13-14
