Christ’s Ultimate Authority

Christ’s Ultimate Authority

Welcome to Chapel City Church! We are so glad that you have joined us for our time of worship this week. As we come to a national election, we are drawn to thinking about what authority looks like and whom it should be entrusted to. As we have worked though Matthew 8, the central focus is on the authority of Jesus Christ. He has the authority to heal diseases, to command the elements of nature, and to subdue the spiritual forces of darkness. But what is the ultimate example of the authority of Christ? What is the most significant miracle that He accomplishes? While we might be quick to point out the healing, the stilling of a storm, or even the exorcism of demons, there is something much more significant and central to what He came to do. This week, we look at the greatest need of every man, woman, and child that has ever been born, and we will understand how the authority of Jesus is central to meeting that need. If there is a way that we can be praying for you or ministering to you during this time, please reach out and let us know!

And getting into a boat he crossed over and came to his own city. And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.”

Matthew 9:1-2
