Consider Your Ways – Part 1: Disordered Priorities

Welcome to Chapel City Church! As we gather together to worship the Lord through song and study of his word, we also want to know how we can be praying for you. Please use the connection cards, your phone, or an email to let us know how our prayer team can be specifically praying for you this week. Today we come to a new minor prophet- The Book of Haggai. It’s been a hundred years since Zephaniah wrote, and the people of Israel have begun to return from their exile in Babylon. But all is not well in the city of Jerusalem. The people receive a call from God to consider their ways, to look carefully at the way that they are living and evaluate whether it leads to blessing or discipline. And the problem isn’t idolatry or even corruption among the people. The problem is that they have disordered priorities.

Now, therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways.  You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes.

Haggai 1:5-6
