Meeting the Need

Meeting the Need

We are so glad that you have come to worship with us today. As we continue moving through Matthew 14, we come to one of the most familiar stories in all of the New Testament. A huge crowd has gathered to be healed and taught by Jesus. The day is gone, the people are hungry, and the conclusion of the disciples is that they ought to be sent away to tend to their own needs. Jesus has other plans. But why is this familiar narrative so important? What does it reveal to us about the crowds, the disciples, and the King? If you have questions or prayer requests, we hope that you will reach out and let us know!

Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over.

Matthew 14:19-20
