Scorning the Son

Scorning the Son

Welcome to our time of worship here at Chapel City Church. We hope that you are encouraged to grow in your faith as we press on toward maturity in Christ together! This week we will look at a passage that many of us are familiar with. The power of Jesus is undeniable, but where does that power come from? The crowds wonder whether he is the Son of David. The Pharisees claim that Jesus casts out demons through the power of Satan. And in his answer, Jesus warns them of the serious consequences for denying the power of the Spirit. But what does it mean to blaspheme the Spirit? What is the unpardonable sin? If you have questions, concerns, or prayer requests, we would love to know!

Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

Matthew 12:31-32
