The Essentials: Outreach

The Essentials: Outreach

We have been working through the mission of our church, and the priorities that must be in place if we are going to carry out that mission. If we say that we are calling all people to receive, demonstrate, and declare God’s transforming grace through Jesus Christ, then we have to have a biblical understanding of what that will look like. We have worked through the first three priorities; relationship, generosity, and discipleship. This week we come to the final core value, that of outreach. When we say outreach, there might be the tendency to think of missions work that happens somewhere way out there. However, if we rightly understand the command of Christ to His church, then we come to the conclusion that we are all entrusted with the saving message of the gospel. And that gospel that has transformed our hearts is the only means of salvation in a lost and dying world. If we are going to be an obedient church, then we must be a proclaiming church. Not only from the pulpit, from the small group, and from the classroom, but from the mouths of every one of us in the specific context that God has sovereignly placed us in. Outreach, in other words, is not the work only of the evangelist. Outreach is the work of the local church as a whole. We would love to be praying for you and with you. Please reach out and let us know how we can minister to you!

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Acts 1:8
