The Hope of Restoration

The Hope of Restoration

The tone of our service today, from the songs that we sing together to the content of the message, is designed to be reflective. There is great joy surrounding this time of year, and that is absolutely appropriate. However, on this day we remember that sin had a high cost. Each one of us has rebelled against the Holy God who create us. And the right consequence of that rebellion is death; physical death here, and eternal separation from God for eternity. On our own we had neither the ability nor the desire to right that wrong, to restore that broken relationship. But God, in his love and mercy, acted. He sent The Son, Jesus Christ, to pay that due penalty for sin. And today we remember that perfect sacrifice. We reflect on the painful reality of our rejection of God. We reflect on the incomprehensible truth that God would love those who were His enemies. We reflect on the fact that through His death, Jesus Christ made it possible for us to be reconciled to God. And in understanding that beautiful, sobering reality we are brought to celebration. The goodness of Good Friday is found in the holiness of God as He pours out His wrath on sin. The goodness of Good Friday is found in the fact that justice comes not to the sinner, but to the Son. It is that goodness that we hope you will reflect on. We hope that you will ask the question of who you believe this Jesus Christ to be. We hope that in understanding the sacrifice, you will be reconciled to the savior. We would love to talk with you about this. We would love to answer your questions, and to further explain this idea of salvation being found by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
