The Hope of the Resurrection

The Hope of the Resurrection

This is the time of year when we celebrate the focal point of all human history. That might sound like an overstatement, but I assure that it isn’t. The events of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ stand as the most significant to ever occur. Mankind lives in slavery to sin and death, and we are powerless to free ourselves. This week, we celebrate the hope and freedom found only in Jesus Christ. This week, we remember the holiness of God and the terrible cost of sin. This week we remember the perfect lamb that took our place. This week, we remember that the grave was not the end, that we have a living hope, and that His resurrection guarantees the promise of our resurrection. Maybe you have heard the story, but never understood. Maybe you know the details, but don’t understand why it matters. Maybe you long for hope, but haven’t ever found it. Come to Christ! Come to the cross, to the empty tomb, to the place where justice and mercy meet in the Son of God, given for us. We would love to pray with you, to talk with you, to help you understand why this story of Jesus and what He has accomplished is the most important thing you will ever hear.

When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:54-57
